HOMELESS families have been forced to live in tents a mile from a historic city centre.
Around 20 people are living in the dilapidated camp just a stone’s throw from leafy Colchester, Essex.
Desperate mum Elizabeth Burnett, 43, has been living rough for months since fleeing her home in Clacton, the Colchester Gazette reports.
She left with her 20-year-old son after “suffering domestic abuse” and says: “I feel like I could die out here and no-one would care.
“We don’t know where to go and I know I’m going down hill fast. None of us want to be here.”
