GREEN Party co-leader Caroline Lucas has backed Jeremy Corbyn who blames “foreign wars” for the Manchester bombing.
Labour Party leader Mr Corbyn has used the attack at a Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena to justify his campaign to stop the war on terror in the Middle East.
Speaking on Channel 4 News, Ms Lucas said he “was right” to highlight the impact of foreign interventions.
She said: “It’s clear that acts happen in a context and it’s a very complicated context, everything from issues around deprivation and isolation, right through to yes, issues around our foreign policy as well.
Asked if 20 years of wars in the Middle East has increased the the threat to Britain, Ms Lucas replied “it had”.
She said: “There are consequences for the kinds of interventions that we’ve made in the past and I think to some extent you’re paying the price for that now and Jeremy is right to point to that.”
Jeremy Corbyn has said the threat of terrorism is growing and he would take “whatever action is necessary” to protect British people.
