Presenter Jon Snow confronted by angry mob over Grenfell Tower coverage : The Telegraph

Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow was confronted by an angry mob next to Grenfell Tower upset over the lack of media coverage about residents’ concerns on fire safety in the building before the disaster.

BBC journalist Victoria Cook tweeted footage of an angry man shouting loudly at the veteran presenter near the scene of the tragedy.

Remains of furniture are seen through the windows as smoke still emerges from the charred Grenfell Tower

“Do you want the proof? You’ve got the proof right there,” the unidentified man says, gesturing towards the gutted 24-storey tower block.

“Right, you didn’t come here when people were telling you that the building was unsafe! That is not ‘newsworthy’.

“You come here when people die. Why?”

Ms Cook said the presenter was being “mobbed”, adding there was “huge hostility to the media” at the scene of the tragedy.

“I hope people know that @BBCLondonNews is here to HELP not hinder -please contact me if you want to appeal for missing people Grenfell,” she tweeted.

The confrontation took place after residents’ groups claimed they raised concerns about the safety of the building, which had been recently refurbished.

Kensington and Chelsea Council admitted it had received complaints over the works, after a residents’ action group said its warnings about safety had fallen on “deaf ears”.
