‘May must go’: Hundreds chant outside Downing Street after Grenfell Tower fire : i News

The anger over the treatment of residents from the Grenfell Tower fire spilled on to the door step of Downing Street. Hundreds of protesters marched along Whitehall in opposition to the response from the Government following the tragedy that has already claimed at least 30 lives.

‘May must go’

The crowds chanted “May must go” as they converged outside the security gates at the entrance of Downing Street. Ade Deane-Pratt from Camberwell, south London said she was marching because of the anger she felt towards the Government. “The Tory government doesn’t give a shit. It was obvious what we going to happen in that tower and it is obvious that they do not give a shit about working class people.” Theresa May is facing mounting criticism for her response to the tragedy, after she visited the Grenfell Tower site without meeting those directly affected.
