Survation – credited with predicting the shock election result – estimated support for the party at 44%, compared to 41% for the Conservatives.

A separate Survation poll after the election gave Labour a more generous six-point lead.

For its latest study for ITV’s Good Morning Britain, the pollster interviewed 1,005 adults on June 16-17.

It found that since June 5, Labour has gained four points while the Tories lost one.

But since May 9 the difference is far starker – with Labour gaining 14 points and the Tories losing six.
