Delivery driver Mark Heslehurst suggested Argos vans only fill up using Sainsbury’s petrol stations following the supermarket giant taking them over last year.
AN Argos worker who came up with an idea which saved the company more than £1.5million received a £10 gift voucher as a thank you.
Mark Heslehurst, 52, sent a list of suggestions after the catalogue business was taken over by supermarket giant Sainsbury’s.
All staff had been asked to email ideas to chairman Mike Coupe and delivery driver Mark’s included Argos vans using Sainsbury’s petrol stations only.
The idea was introduced and a manager said the savings would be “about £1.5million”.
Mark, who earns the minimum £7.50 an hour, said: “It did seem quite an obvious thing to do but I guess ideas can get over-looked.
