The Communities Secretary has said that those who profited from rising housing prices must now assist to resolve the shortage of affordable housing.
WEALTHY residents have been told they will just have to put up with new homes being built nearby.
Those who benefited from rising house prices must now help solve the lack of affordable housing, Communities Secretary Sajid Javid insisted.
His comments were seen as a dig at Nimbys who oppose development in their neighbourhoods.
In a speech to council leaders, Mr Javid said he wanted “a much more frank, open discussion with local residents and communities”.
But he added: “Where housing is particularly unaffordable, local leaders need to take a long, hard, honest look to see if they are planning for the right number of homes.”
