OFFICIALS were told to remove their ID badges over fears of reprisals as anger mounted immediately after the Grenfell Tower disaster.

A social worker was spat at as furious residents criticised Kensington and Chelsea council’s response to the blaze.

Protesters stormed the authority’s offices just days after the fire and a council boss admitted the “hostility” led to warnings not to wear ID badges if employees “were out of the of the office and in the community”.

Last night mourners gathered near the tower in north Kensington to hold an emotional vigil one month after the disaster which killed at least 80 people.

It came as the council’s new leader Elizabeth Campbell yesterday admitted she had never been inside a flat in any of the area’s high-rise tower blocks.

  1. I don’t think anyone can blame the community for being angry.

    I doubt very much that they will ever get the whole truth of who was responsible, the level of corruption goes right to the top.

  2. A never ending game of pass the buck.
    It was them what was responsible, no no it was them over there, you’re wrong it was that guy that gave the go ahead, look he signed it there.
    But em…he passed away two years ago.

    Fick…round and round in circles and getting nowhere.
