Network Rail’s £500,000-a-year boss claimed everything from expensive dinners to 57p bags of Walkers crisps on expenses, it emerged yesterday.
Just days after the taxpayer-funded operator revealed the bumper pay package of chairman Sir Peter Hendy – amid criticism of a deteriorating service – it became embroiled in a fresh row over public sector greed.
Embarrassing details of his spending on his corporate card have emerged following a Freedom of Information Act request.
The exclusive Groucho Club in Soho appears to be a favourite haunt of Sir Peter, with several bills for meals at the private establishment. The claims include £26 steaks and £22 veal chops. On all the bills, alcohol was not claimed due to Network Rail rules.

It disgusts me to know that people who earn such a huge amount can have the audacity to claim such a pittance in normal everyday living expenses.
What’s the point in paying them anything, when they can have it all for free.
F&*k. I would love to claim back some of my living expenses. Gas, electricity, travel cost’s. Blah, blah, blah.
Living on what the LAW say’s I, & many others are to live on sucks.
