A COUPLE forced to claim benefits due to depression were left horrified after a man advertising a spare room tells them to “get a job and stop sucking life out of the UK”.

Maria Brindle, 25, and her partner Liam Bellis had spotted the advert on Facebook and got in touch to find out if they take couples on housing benefits.

Kevin Parkes, who posted the advert on behalf of a friend, quizzed the pair on their reasons for claiming government money before refusing them the room.

He told them: “I’m going to be absolutely blunt and up front right now.

“You both need to pull yourselves together and stop blaming ill health for your reason not to work.”
