MINISTERS are today accused of putting lives at risk as figures reveal faulty white goods are causing nearly ten fires a day.
At least 9,574 in three years were blamed on appliances such as washing machines, dryers and fridge-freezers like the one which sparked June’s Grenfell Tower blaze.

Of the incidents in 2014, 2015 and last year, 428 were blamed on Hotpoint products, 226 on Indesit appliances and 201 on Beko goods. At least five people died as a result.
And the real figures are thought to be much higher but just 30 out of 51 fire brigades responded to Freedom of Information requests.
Consumer champion Lynn Faulds Wood panned the Government for failing to act on the recommendations of her 2015 review into product safety.
She told the Sun: “Frankly, we have gone backwards on safety in this country.
