Jeremy Corbyn ‘would not defend UK’, Boris Johnson launches scathing Newsnight attack : Express

JEREMY Corbyn “would not defend this country” and struggles to answer simple questions, Boris Johnson declared in a scathing review of the Labour leader’s Question Time performance.

The Foreign Secretary accused Mr Corbyn of a perceived weakness on the defence of the UK, following his refusal “to confirm” he would use the country’s expensive nuclear programme.

Mr Johnson said: “When it came to Jeremy Corbyn on the defence of our country, we have invested £31billion in the Trident nuclear programme and he absolutely refused to confirm that he would even use it.

“Thereby voiding the logic of deterrents, he would not stick up for or defend this country.”

Mr Corbyn is a lifelong nuclear disarmament and peace campaigner, who has repeatedly displayed a reluctance over the renewal of the current Trident arrangements although his party’s manifesto commits a Labour government to do so.

  1. I would think Boris is the bigger threat to the security of the country. He’s the sort of bumbling clown who should never, ever have access to the nuclear codes.

Boris Johnson loses it as BBC reporter jumps in to stop him squaring up to Corbyn ally.
BORIS Johnson flipped out yet again during a TV interview following yesterday’s Question Time debate as a BBC reporter was forced to intervene and hold him back.

  3. ‘Mr Johnson said: “When it came to Jeremy Corbyn on the defence of our country, we have invested £31billion in the Trident nuclear programme and he absolutely refused to confirm that he would even use it.’

Is he honestly saying if we don’t use the nuclear weapons we would be guilty of wasting £31 billion? I though the argument always was ‘it is money well spent for the peace of mind of a deterrent’ (a utter load of shit btw). They seem to be turning the debate away from deterrent to first strike at every opportunity. They have a nasty little idea simmering away, someone they want to drop a nuclear device on. The big problem they have had since Vietnam are body bags coming home, it is a big vote loser for politicians. They are not even sure they could win a land war anymore so I guess they figure a few big bombs would solve all their issues.
